An introduction of DIY DataRecovery.nl

  • Mood: optimistic
  • Music: none at this time

Hi there,

There are times when we feel we'd like to share some information, thoughts related to 'DIY DataRecovery.nl' and do it yourself data recovery in general but the website just isn't the proper platform for it. Little comments, maybe some tips specific to our tools, quick notes etc..

So I guess that's what we'll be doing here .. But for starters I'll introduce DIY DataRecovery.nl to you, after all it's nice to see who you are dealing with:

- The goal: Offer great and innovative data recovery software at a fair price and top notch support. Our tools are among the best available on the market today. First of all, our tools recover data, that's the primary goal. But there are a lot of tools around that do that as well.

DiskPatch, our self booting disk and partition repair tool is IMO the best in it's class. It is also one of the first partition table recovery products. iRecover is without a doubt one of the best and above all most comprehensive hard disk data recovery program available today. iRescue is the most competitive priced complete NTFS solution you'll find anywhere. Both iRecover and iRescue offer a validation feature you'll not find elsewhere: During analysis the programs will actually examine file contents to see if data is corrupt or not.

We are just 2 guys trying to make a living and have some fun. That's why our prices are fair. We do not need to make high profits to satisfy share-holders, but we only need to cover expenses. And also we require food, and a roof above our heads. We think it is fun to see people being able to breath again because they recovered their own data, and we think it is fun we can help them do that.

Wherever we can we try to provide you with real trials that actually recover data. iRecover and iRescue allow you to recover (a limited amount of) data using the free trial. Our demos (so the try before you buy versions that do not repair or recover data) try to be fair about the chances they can fix/recover data. They can not guarantee that. This is typically true for file undelete software. With regards to our disk repair tool DiskPatch, we offer a guarantee after we have analysed the logfile.

- The people: Hello, we're Tom and Joep. We know each other from waaaay back and we went to school together. I guess we're not prototype nerds but we like tinkering with those machines called personal computers. And although we like gaming every now and then, the interest in PCs goes deeper than just using them. We're a curious bunch so to speak.

Tom has a background of working for IT departments of large commercial and government organizations. He worked with the 'big stuff', the 'climate controlled room filling stuff'. He's the official programmer but due to his great didactical skills, Joep now also does his share of producing code.

Joep started first working with computers (other than hobby, first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81) when he was employed by PowerQuest Europe. And that's where his interest in data recovery was raised. PowerQuest's PartitionMagic was a fine tool, but when it went wrong, it really went wrong ... And rather than reciting official policy 'restore data from backup' he started poking around on disks with a disk editor to see if things could be fixed. To facilitate and automate repairs he then first asked Tom for possibilities to approach the problem programmatically.

Well, there you have it. A short introduction. maybe more later ... Wait! A picture ... I think this is about the time we first started working on our first ever freeware; RepoMan:
